The End of the Stories

“Every breath we take, and every drop we drink, depends on a healthy ocean. Now, their life depends on us.” – Oceans (2010)

Nature creates and nurtures human beings, but what human activities in the modern era have brought to nature is nothing short of disaster and catastrophe.

The 2010 documentary Oceans showed us a serene and beautify story, but this serenity hides the devastation brought by humans. For the extinct species, there are nothing left but numbers, figures and words, spelling out stories for which no continuation is possible.

By carving the skeleton of extinct ocean animals into clay cinderblocks, I use the gift of nature—clay—to pay tribute to the victims of human beings’ arrogance and greed, in the hope of bringing the audience’s attention to environmental preservation and protection.
